Strong Feather

Denise "Strong Feather" Williams

Denise “Strong Feather” Williams is a member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe located in Charlestown, Rhode Island. She is the daughter of the late Sedonia “Dancing Waters” Champlain (Narragansett), a prominent Artist in the New England Native American Community and Co-Founder of the New England Native American Calendar. She is the eldest granddaughter of the late Harold & Mazel Champlain. Her Grandfather (Narragansett), well known in the New England area, was the Founder of the New England Native American Calendar. Denise is also the sister of Dennis “Hawkeye” Champlain, a gifted Artist and Owner of Worthy Image LLC. and President of the Algonquin Indian Arts and Culture Association.

Denise was born into a very talented and gifted family. At a very early age she and her brother were inspired by their mother’s amazing artistic ability. Her mother would teach her and her brother arts & crafts. She would teach her how to sew by making clothes doll clothes and she also taught her how to create figures using dough art.

As a young girl, her grandfather would take her and many other family members to Powwows through out the New England area.  He would teach them the ways of their culture. Her grandfather was very artistic and had many talents.

In 1999, Denise decided to use her talents to start her own business, “Strong Feather Creations” to sell her one-of-a-kind dolls and dough creations. Every creation holds a special place in her heart. She creates faceless dolls because she believes that true expression comes from the soul. She gives thanks and praise to God the Creator above for the many blessings He has showered upon her.
